The Whistling Elk
Subsurface Imaging Project

Combining Data Through Color Compositing

One goal of this project was to explore techniques for the combination of multiple remotely sensed data sets. A GIS / remote sensing method known as color compositing was employed where the geophysical data sets were each assigned to a primary color (blue, green, red, above) and then color-combined to form the composite seen below. When the various colors are interpreted, the result is able to portray all the findings simultaneously.

This project was supported by a technology transfer grant from the National
Center for Preservation Technology and Training, National Park Service.
