The University of Arkansas Spatial Library is a massive (multi-terabyte) Oracle database holding a wide range of geospatial data sets in an OGC-compliant interoperable form. There are extensive vector (e.g. roads, soils, CAD, etc.) raster (e.g. imagery, elevation) and 3D (e.g. LIDAR, high density survey) data in the system. Information from many areas of the world are in the system -- with major holdings from Arkansas, various locations around the US, Central and South America and the Near East. The system is structured to support the research, development, teaching and outreach efforts of the faculty and students of the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. Faculty and students across the campus can connect a range of GIS, remote sensing, CAD and surveying desktop clients to the Oracle data. Both limited access and public data sets are stored in the UASL. Depending on your access privileges you may be restricted in the data you can access.

Access levels

UASL will have four levels of data access at the layer/theme level; (1) general public, (2) campus access, (3) CAST staff/students/faculty and (4) a further restricted class, if projects or sponsors or data licensing require this. Roles and permissions will be defined for each. Under the restricted and/or CAST access categories UASL may support limited distribution commercial data, e.g. DigitalGlobe imagery and research project datasets under development, but with appropriately restricted access. Substantial new data will be added to the UASL that are not currently in GeoStor, these involve data from various areas around the globe and others. The available data is accessible in a number of formats. It can be searched and accessed using (A) GeoSurf , (for some data forms), (B) traditional FTP, (C) campus and other authorized users may also "direct connect" to the database and (D) selected layer/themes are exposed via OGC services (e.g., WMS, WFS, Coverages etc.).
