The ASD field spectroradiometer is a low cost device that offer the ability to take spectral measurements in situ with a relatively negligible amount of intervening atmosphere.  Using the appropriate calibration materials and accessory equipment, including panels of known spectral reflectance properties, full sky cosine receptors, and calibrated optics, a field spectroradiometer can reliably measure the spectral reflectance characteristics of individual biotic and abiotic objects (e.g. tree leaves, tree canopies, grasses, shrubs, soils, minerals, concrete, water, etc.).

The unit has wavelength range of 325 - 1075 nm and is easily interfaced to a field laptop computer. Typical data collection rate is 0.7 spectra/second and the spectral resolution is 3.5 nm @ 700 nm.
