Massive 3D
point clouds, collected by laser
scanners, are processed by the Polyworks software package. Processing
the enormous data sets collected by 3D scanners is a challenge. The
PolyWorks suite from Innovmetric has been successful in a variety
of visualization, surveying, architecture, engineering, and manufacturing
applications.
The PolyWorks
suite supports the following functionality:
Multiple scan alignment
Polygonal model creation
Polygonal model editing
Feature and measurement
extraction
Visualization and video
output
In heritage
preservation, the use of high-density 3D scanning surveys is a relatively
new approach . Professionals from the cultural, artistic, and archeological
fields can profit from PolyWorks' tools which include:
Creating polygonal models
for heritage visualization, education, professional research
Modeling for reconstruction
Monitoring structural
change over time
Exporting features to
external software suites
Extracting measurements
directly on point clouds
