In addition to a number of digital cameras for general photography the Center has a 10.2 mega-pixel Nikon D200 and two 6.1 mega-pixel D70 digital cameras. A variety of fixed and zoom lens for these cameras have been calibrated and are available stereo and convergent close range applications. Commercial photogrammetric software and advanced bundle adjustment software developed at CAST can be applied to extract very precise dimensional information. Fusion of traditional photogrammetric solutions with laser scanners has been shown to be an effective strategy (Wehr and Wiedemann, 2000) and software developed by Prof. Jack Cothren is used to fuse the Nikon imagery with the Optech ILRIS scans.
