Day to day administration of the HARLS-CS
is the responsibility of the Center for Advanced Spatial Technologies
under the guidance of an Executive Committee, initially composed of
the Co-PIs in the project, chaired by Limp. CAST has a full-time staff
of more than 20 and has designated Jackson
Cothren as POC for the HARLS-CS. Scheduling is based on a general
first-come first-serve structure with conflicts mediated by the Executive
Committee. The committee will develop formal guidance for use and scheduling.
The components of the HARLS-CS were chosen, in part, due to their low
annual operational costs but there will be future costs associated with
maintenance, insurance, software upgrades, and related expenses after
the first year. The proposed, limited, 3-year operational funding requested
gives users an opportunity to develop future grant proposals that include
funds for use of the equipment in its budget. The total annual expenses
will be projected and all participants in the HARLS-CS use will initially
be required to share equally in these baseline costs, as a requirement
for use or as determined by the Executive Committee. Direct project
costs associated with use of the HARLS-CS will be the responsibility
of the unit using the equipment as will any costs for repair or replacement
not covered by insurance that occurs during project use. Lab suites
of the software elements of the HARLS-CS are installed on lab Windows
XP workstations accessible at the Center for Advanced Spatial Technologies,
with individual versions provided to each participating unit, where
licensing options permit.
