ArkansasView
is striving to develop a strong consortium dedicated to advancing the
availability, timely distribution, and widespread use of remote sensing
data and technology. We propose an aggressive agenda for realizing AmericaView
and ArkansasView goals through education, research, outreach, and sustainable
technology transfer to the public and other non-profit organizations.

ArkansasView,
in cooperation with data providers, is working to expand the number
of available sensor data sets in GIS-ready, COTS formats and make them
available to public agencies, educational institutions, and commercial
entities in our state, and it is our goal to make that information easier
for users to obtain. ArkansasView is working with data providers, software
and hardware vendors, the Open GIS Consortium and others to establish
a national infrastructure for data flow that will: 1) provide efficient
storage, access, and real-time data delivery mechanisms, and 2) enable
cost-effective and timely distribution of data and data products.
ArkansasView has a proven record in, and a strong commitment to, the
development of the technical means for rapid distribution of multiple
instrument data and mid-range information products that will build consumer
demand for remote sensing products.
The
goals of ArkansasView are:
-
To
broaden the remote sensing data user community in Arkansas by providing
useful and inexpensive remote sensing data and data products to
the Arkansas View consortium and to anyone with internet access.
-
To transfer remote sensing technology to educational institutions
at all levels, state agencies, and the private sector in Arkansas.
-
To create and maintain effective public education and outreach programs
promoting the benefits gained through the use of remote sensing
technologies.
-
To provide near-real-time data and data products to a broad user
community on an easy-to-use web interface and implement, as much
as possible, fully automated RS data processing.
