CAST, USGS, State of Arkansas, PCI Geomatics, Oracle and Sun Microsystems
team up to provide quick access to satellite data to the public through
RAPID - AmericaView with data available in GeoStor within 10 minutes
after received from USGS. Visit the RAPID website for more information
and satellite images.* If
you do not already have Java 1.4 on your machine the GeoStor application
will recognize this and send you to the Sun Java site to download Java
1.4. You will only need to do this ONCE! The
following instructions ate reproduced form the Sun Java Site Instructions
for installing Java 1.4 To
protect you from viruses and other "trojan horse" programs,
you are first asked to confirm that you intend to allow the installer
to put Java Plug-in on your system. This
"Security Warning" confirms that Verisign Commercial Software
Publishers has verified that the software's electronic "signature"
is from Sun, and asks whether you want to trust this installation software
from Sun. Click
"Yes" to proceed. During
the download, a progress window lets you know the estimated time remaining
for the download to finish. The download can take anywhere from a few
minutes on a fast internet connection to half an hour or more on a very
slow connection. We
recommend that you accept the default location, which is on your C drive
at C:\Program Files\Java\JRE\j2re<version>. To accept the default
location, click the "Next" button. If your environment requires
that you install elsewhere, click the "Browse" button to choose
an alternative installation location. The
install program will detect whether you have a Microsoft Internet Explorer
Browser and/or a Netscape 6 browser on your computer and will check
the appropriate boxes for you. Click the "Apply" button, and
the installation program will proceed. After
the Java Plug in installs the GeoStor Java applet will be You will see the

Generally you should select "Grant Always". You will only be
required to move though this process the first time you
GeoStor
is still a pre-release product. Testing and development are on-going.
