Instructions for importing metadata from Geostor into ArcCatalog

Step 1: Go to GeoStor

Step 2: Highlight the geospatial dataset of interest (GeoStor)

Step 3: Select Long Form ((GeoStor/GeoSurf)top right)

Step 4: Go to File--> Print Metadata (GeoStor)

Step 5: Select to file (GeoStor)

Step 6: Navigate to the folder you want to store the file (GeoStor)

Step 7: Give the file a name (GeoStor)

Step 8: Click Open (GeoStor)

Step 9: Click Print (GeoStor)

Step 10: Navigate to the file you just Printed (Local)

Step 11: Make the extension .txt (Local)

Step 12: Select the geospatial dataset (ArcCatalog)

Step 13: Click on the Metadata tab (ArcCatalog)

Step 14: Click on the Import Metadata icon (ArcCatalog)

Step 15: Set the Format to FGDC CSDGM (TXT) (ArcCatalog)

Step 16: Decide if you want ArcCatalog to update (This will enable spatial metadata components to be updated on the fly)

Step 17: Browse to the file you saved (Local)

Step 18: Select the file you saved (Local)

Step 19: Click Open

Step 20: Click OK

Cautionary Note: Entity attribute information is not always imported.
