CAST facilities currently occupy 6,173 square feet of space on three floors in Ozark Hall, near the center of campus. Administrative offices on the ground floor include seven offices, a conference area, and a reception area. Research labs are located on the second and third floors. The Center researchers and students also have access to the EAST Training Center when not in use for EAST training.

Mapping and GeoSciences Computer Lab
Located on the third floor, the Mapping and GeoSciences Computer Lab provides a state-of-the-art facility for undergraduate/graduate education and professional education short courses. In addition to 16 workstations in a classroom configuration, the lab has a black and white printer and an A/B sized color ink jet printer/plotter.

Regular university courses that focus on the use of GIS in a variety of applications are offered in the Mapping and Geosciences Lab in addition to a number of professional development courses.

Rural America 2000 Lab
Also located on the third floor, the Rural America 2000 Lab is a model facility designed to provide local and federal governmental units an opportunity to participate in cooperative projects. Any cooperative group can apply for use of the facility as long as (1) the group includes representatives from both a local/regional/state government unit(s) and a federal unit(s), and (2) the group addresses a particular project or similar effort. Multipurpose Computer Lab
The Multipurpose Computer Lab on the third floor provides students access to a number of different computer hardware and software systems and additional classroom facilities for professional development courses. Equipment and software vary according to need. Click on the following for more information:

 

Spatial Technologies Research Lab
The Spatial Technologies Research Lab also on the third floor, is a general-purpose research area housing a number of Center researchers and graduate students. A range of computer platforms, software and hardware are available in the lab.

 

Northwest Arkansas EAST Training Center
The Northwest Arkansas EAST Training Center also on the third floor, provides students access to a number of different computer hardware and software systems and additional classroom facilities for professional development courses . A range of computer platforms, software and hardware are available in the lab.

 

Global Positioning Systems
The Center has a twelve channel Trimble base station, six Trimble geo-explorers and two Trimble pro-XL systems and their differential correcting data are on line and accessible to any GPS user with a telephone modem or access via ArkNet, the state network. A semester course as well as introductory and advanced courses are part of the curriculum.
