These predictive maps are used to identify species and/or areas that are under-represented in our nations network of managed lands. This mapping effort consists of:
Developing alternative strategies to manage wetlands This project consists in the development of tools which allow a better preservation and prioritization of wetland areas. Development of a digital land-use / land cover-map for the Arkansas Delta This project will produce detailed consistent land-use / land-cover maps focusing on agricultural crops for the 27 "Delta" counties of Arkansas for year 1992. Synoptic assessment of wetlands in the White River Basin, Arkansas The Environmental Protection Agency funded CAST and other cooperators to develop an overall analysis of the wetlands in the White River watershed within the Mississippi alluvial valley. Risk Mitigation of Wildfire Hazards at the Wildland Urban Interface of Northwest Arkansas This study uses new technologies such as satellite imagery, global positioning systems, and geographic information systems to identify, inventory, and map the risk posed by wildfire to residences in the wildland-urban interface.
