With support from the NSF CI-TRAIN Initiative the Center (more information here) has been able to acquire three (3) Leica GS-15 and two (2) CS-10s. The GS-15s are multi-capacity GNSS (global navigation satellite system) capable units that can simultaneously track the US NAVSTAR, Russian GLONASS and European GALEIO satellites. The units are also capable of acquiring the next generation L5 frequency.

As described on the Leica web site the units are characterized by:

Low noise, reliable,  high accuracy code and phase measurements [which] are the basis of all satellite surveying work. The better the signal raw data and the more satellites  being tracked the better the performance and the results. The Leica GNSS completely new SmartTrack+ measurement engine and triple frequency antenna are matched with 120 channel perfectly to each other for the best possible performance: 

    • Acquisition within seconds
    • Excellent signal tracking
    • Tracking to low elevations
    • Suppress phase and code multipath
    • Jamming resistant
    • Perfect tracking in dynamic environments

 

The CS-10 are comprehnsive data loggers and are use to configure the GS-15s.
