Rebecca Nathan
P.h.D Candidate, Indiana University
B.A. Carnegie Mellon University 2006
Geodatabase Manager, William R. Adams Zooarchaeology Lab
Rebecca's research interests take her to the windy precipices
of Bighorn Canyon (Wyoming/Montana). She focuses on archaeological
predictive modeling from an indigenous archaeological perspective with
an additional emphasis on statistical applications. Working closely
with members of the Crow tribe as well as NPS employees, her goal is to
create an accurate and beneficial predictive model to aid in
archaeological projects taking place both within the boundaries of
Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area and on Crow reservation land.
Rebecca received a Bachelor's of Science in Anthropology and
History and European Studies from Carnegie Mellon University in 2006. She
spent three years as an intern and employee of the San Diego
Archaeological Center, where She rehabilitated archaeological collections
and constructed the institution's first geodatabase. Rebecca has spent four
years in the field at Bighorn Canyon with the Exploring Social and
Historical Landscapes of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem field school,
run in conjunction by Dr. Laura Scheiber (Indiana University) and Dr.
Judson Finley (University of Memphis).
Her hobbies include digitizing maps, hiking, reading old
novels, and knitting. If you are interested in Rebecca's research, please
