In addition to its traditional research and university education roles, the Center also has an outreach function to other elements of the university. This involves such activities as assistance in the selection and installation of appropriate computer hardware and software, technical assistance for the campus ESRI site software license, offering on-line course on GPS and GIS to UA students to supporting a partnership with Development Consultants Inc. to distribute survey and mapping grade GPS correction data from a local survey grade base-station.
The Center also collaborates with other units on campus to provide access to the Center supported teaching and research labs and its extensive suite of research instruments.
A major university "outreach" effort involves Center collaboration with the University's Facility Management program to develop new approaches to the management of the campus infrastructure.
