Description: This raster map shows the percentage of farmland, by county, that was enrolled in the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Conservation Reserve Program in 1987. Under the Conservation Reserve Program farmers are financially compensated for setting aside farmland in an effort to control erosion. This practice, in turn, protects the cultural resources that exist on the enrolled farmland. Source: USDA Census of Agriculture (1987) Field: Cropland under CRP (in acres).
