Selects a given number of areas to represent a near-maximum number of taxa (29 plus the top 10 hotspots in this example). The rules are similar to those for near-minimum sets but are automated for simplicity (Williams 1999a). The first stage rules iteratively search for one, two, or more representations of each species, until the selected number of areas is matched or exceeded. In the second stage the areas are reordered by complementary richness. This process is rather time consuming; users should be prepared to wait up to an hour or more for results.
