Data Conversion
The 1984 and 1999 land use and land cover maps and the land use and land cover change map, 1984 – 1999, were exported as Grid Coverages into ArcInfo GIS software and converted to a polygon-vector format employing the ASCIIGRID and GRIDPOLY Arc commands. The vector-based polygons were then converted into Shapefiles in ArvView GIS Software for additional GIS analysis. Each polygon maintained the preassigned gridcode corresponding to each land category numeric code.
