General information:
All students/faculty/staff are to abide by the University's Code of Computing Practices, available here.
The CAST computer labs are not general access labs. They are intended for GIS related use, and access is controlled by DSX card readers in J. B. Hunt, and combination locks in Ozark. DSX card access for the labs in J. B. Hunt is available from Turn on JavaScript! in J. B. Hunt 304.
For technical support, check the FAQs first. If you can't find the answer you need, send an email to Turn on JavaScript! with a brief description of the problem in the subject and a detailed description in the body.
Information for UARK students and faculty:
Students and faculty may use uark.edu (also known as GACL) accounts to log into the CAST lab computers, but we also create cast.uark.edu (also known as CAST) accounts to use with the CAST Windows computers. These accounts provide additional functionality over the uark.edu accounts such as roaming profiles and additional server storage space. Your GACL account uses the same login and password as your UARK email account, and uses "GACL" as the domain to login to a Microsoft Windows machine. CAST accounts are created automatically for students enrolled in classes taught in J.B. Hunt and are removed at the end of the semester in which the class is taught. Your CAST account will have a login assigned to you by CAST Systems Administrators (usually based on the course name) and use "CAST" as the domain to login to a Microsoft Windows machine.
CAST maintains one server for use by students and faculty working in J. B. Hunt. Forms for getting/renewing J. B. Hunt server space are available from and should be turned in to Turn on JavaScript! in J. B. Hunt 304. DEEPSTORE server space is valid for at least one year, but needs to be renewed each successive year by filling out a new application between January 1 and June 30. If not renewed, access expires on June 30, and old accounts are archived.
CAST maintains two servers for use by students and faculty working in Ozark. Forms for getting/renewing Ozark server space are available from and should be turned in to Turn on JavaScript! in Ozark 113. GEOS1 and GEOS2 server space is valid for at least one year, but needs to be renewed each successive year by filling out a new application between January 1 and June 30. If not renewed, access expires on June 30, and old accounts are archived.
Information for CAST staff:
CAST Staff may use uark.edu (GACL) accounts, but we also create cast.uark.edu (also known as CAST) accounts to use with the CAST Windows computers. These accounts provide additional functionality over the uark.edu accounts such as roaming profiles and additional server storage space. CAST accounts usually use a login name that is consistant across the various CAST IT services (such as email), and use "CAST" as the domain to log into a Microsoft Windows machine.
CAST maintains several servers with a variety of services for use by CAST Staffers. For a complete listing of what's available, log into the CAST Forum.
