About IMView

In mid-2005 one of the primary laser point cloud software companies, Innovmetric ( www.innovmetric.com ), released their free data viewer, IMView ™. The PolyWorks ™ software provides capabilities to import laser scanning or other point cloud data from a wide range of hardware vendors. A list of the vendors supported is available at http://www.innovmetric.com/Manufacturing/su_techspecs.aspx?lang=en . Data from any of these systems, or in the open PIF (parametric input format) format, can be imported and converted to a format that can be freely distributed along with the viewer. The viewer is freely available at http://www.innovmetric.com/Manufacturing/viewer.aspx . With the data and IMView ™ it is now possible to distribute point cloud data that the recipient can analyze, perform a variety of measurements and otherwise investigate. The PDF files distributed with the product provide extensive information on all these functions. A flash based set of user tutorials developed by Angie Payne of CAST are provided that review the use of IMView ™ and are available at ImViewTutorials.
