CADIS Project 2001

About Project 2001

The Community Asset and Development Information System (CADIS) is a project hosted by the University of Arkansas's CAST Department. Working with CAST's technology, in a real world situation, five students who are in High School or just graduated, use the skills they've acquired taking EAST classes to produce products that are useful to the community. These "CADIS kids" have gathered data, converted data electronically to use in producing digital maps, and automated web based information systems.

The CADIS project demonstrates that if you give high school kids the right tools and training, they can produce near professional quality products. One of the few things lacking in the students separating them from professionals, is experience, which is precisely what CADIS gives a young intern.
