DSS Resources Daniel J. Power Editor, DSS Resources, College of Business Administration, University of Northern Iowa

This site has something for anyone interested in Decision Support Systems. Topic headings include Articles On-line, DSS History, Book List and Reviews, Case Studies, Data-Driven DSS, DSS Links, Researchers, Roulette, Glossary, Programming, Teaching, Journals, Model-Driven DSS, Multimedia, University Links, and much more. You might want to get a feel for the amount of inforamtion here by starting at the Decision Support Web Tour.

The Data Warehousing Information Center

This site's aim is to help readers learn about data warehousing and decision support systems. The site provides links to vendors of tools for data retrieval and analysis, tools for building and maintaining system infrastructure, and tools directed at specific industries and functions. It poinst the reader to data warehouse and decision support publications - articles, white papers, books, technical evaluations, periodicals, and other non-vendor sources of information. It lists service providers - consultants, trainers, conference and seminar organizers. And it delivers the author's rants and raves about data warehousing and decision support.

CIESIN's Active Response Geographic Information System

The Active Response GIS (AR/GIS) is a collaborative resource modeling system based on ESRI's ArcView 3.0 software which allows non-technical users to interactively sketch land use scenarios and then evaluate those scenarios against regional objectives and constraints. AR/GIS is a proven system which assists resource managers in producing a range of carefully considered options, an evaluation of the impacts of each options, an audit trail tracking the decision rationale for each approach, and a geographic blueprint for implementation.

USGS Biological Resources DSS

The BRD mission is to work with others to provide the scientific understanding and technologies needed to support the sound management and conservation of our Nation's biological resources. A fundamental part of our mission is embodied in our deep commitment to make data and information on the Nation's biological resources more accessible to more people.

The Aurora Partnership

The Aurora Partnership is a public/private collaboration to stimulate the development and application of decision support tools, services and systems for natural resource and environmental management. It seeks to address the needs of policy makers, land and resource managers, and county and community leaders.

KDNuggetsT Directory: Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery Resources

An e-newsletter on data mining and knowledge discovery topics. This site includes line to tools, software, vendors, jobs, courses, meetings, and other web sites.

The Data Mine

The Data Mine provides information about Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery in Databases (KDD), also known as Knowledge Acquisition from Databases and Knowledge Discovery. Links from this site include software, journals, data sources, AI, and Online Analytical Processing.

An Introduction to OLAP Pilot Software

This site publishes a white paper titled An Introduction to OLAP Multidimensional Terminology and Technology.

Online Analytical Processing Alta Plana Corporation

This page is a collection of information related to Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) and selected related disciplines including Data Warehousing (DW), Decision Support Systems (DSS), and Executive Information Systems (EIS). It consists of links to Web OLAP collections, Documentation & Resources, Corporate pages, and Consultants

The OLAP Report

Selecting the right OLAP product is hard, but very important, if projects are not to fail; many buyers struggle even to produce an appropriate shortlist. This Web site helps you navigate the maze by providing detailed, unbiased and regularly updated information on the OLAP market and OLAP products. Unlike most other sources of OLAP information, this site is not vendor subsidized and does not take advertising.

ISWorld Decision Support Systems Teaching Resources

This page is intended to provide a useful starting point for accessing WWW-based material related to teaching Decision Support Systems (DSS) courses.

Decision Analysis and System Dynamics Resources at Arizona State University

This web site provides resources related to the decision analysis and system dynamics activities in the College of Business at Arizona State University, Tempe, Arizona, USA. These resources will be useful if you are interested in applying quantitative methods to improve decision making in situations with uncertainty, multiple conflicting objectives, or dynamic change. For further information about decision analysis and system dynamics, follow the links below to the Decision Analysis Society or the system dynamics mega link list (see below).

System Dynamics Resource Page University of Arizona, Tempe

This portion of the site listed above contains links to papers that discuss management processes, systems dynamics models, system dynamics methods, and much more.

Günther Ossimitz System Dynamics Mega Link List

This is another site full of links to reference material on system dynamics. Subject groups include systems thinking, modeling and simulation, simulation and modeling software, system dynamics resources, institutions, model collections, courses and programs, papers, and literature. Plus much more.

IIASA Science for Global Insight

The International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis is a non-governmental research organization located in Austria. Here international teams of experts from various disciplines conduct scientific studies on environmental, economic, technological and social issues in the context of human dimensions of global change. In their study of environmental, economic, technological, and social developments, the IIASA researchers generate methods and tools useful to both decision makers and the scientific community. The work is based on original state-of-the-art methodology and analytical approaches linking a variety of natural and social science disciplines.

Integrating GIS with DSS: A Research Agenda

This link takes you to a URISA paper presented by Dr. Mircea Enache at the 1994 meeting.

Systems Management Collage of Notre Dame, California

This site is created by graduate students in the Masters of Science in Systems Management program, at the College of Notre Dame, California. This site provides discussion of and links to other resources for the following topics; Systems, Soft Systems, Hard Systems, Cybernetics, Systems Based Leadership, Complexity and Chaos, Learning Organizations, Sociotechnical Systems, Systems Manager Strategies, Systems Management Tools, Systems Dynamics, and Organizational Development.

Decision Support Systems Reference Page Collage of Notre Dame, California

One page from the site described above dedicated specifically to DSS links. Decision Support Systems are computer based systems that help decision makers utilize data and models and other tools to identify and solve problems as well as make decisions. They help stakeholders use and manipulate data. The design goal for a DSS' is to assist a decision maker to make g more accurate, thorough, objective and efficient decisions. The links on this page will send you to examples of DSS systems and data for various industries and applications including agriculture, aviation and space, business applications, computer applications, environmetal management, general DSS resources, medical applications, personnel, telecommunications, training, and transportations.

Ecosystem Management Decision Support

EMDS is an application framework for knowledge based decision support of environmental assessments. The system integrates state-of-the-art geographic information system (GIS) and knowledge based reasoning technologies.

Nebraska Research Initiative on Geospatial Data Integration for Decision Support University of Nebraska, Lincoln

Geospatial information systems support decision-making in farming, ranching, natural resource management, community and regional planning, transportation system design and management, climatology, and environmental monitoring. Current geospatial information systems offer only limited support for integrating varied data from disparate sources for complex, high-level analyses required in decision-support. The approaches this project use include application scripting, information theory, constraint databases, and knowledge engineering. These techniques work together at several levels to integrate spatial data for decision support.
