In-class GPS Web Search

Part 1

Go to the Trimble Homepage.

  • For an area of your choice (city, state, or country), find the closest base station.
  • Is the base station you have chosen on the web? If so, how do you access the data?
  • Identify a GPS manufacturer other than Trimble and find which of their products most resemble Trimble's Geoexplorer and Pro-xl.

    Part 2

Using the search engine of your choice, find at least one web site of substance related to your group's topic where GPS is used as an effective research tool.

  • Group 1 - GPS & Primatology
  • Group 2 - GPS & North American Archaeology
  • Group 3 - GPS & Middle Eastern Archaeology
  • Group 4 - GPS & Paleontology
  • Group 5 - GPS & Ethnology

Be prepared to discuss the results of your search during the last 15 minutes of class.
