PowerPoint In-Class Exercise
For this assignment we will learn how to do presentations using the tools in PowerPoint. For instructions use the cheat sheet. Save your assignment as your itarch #, e.g. itarch1.ppt.
We have a special directory for all of the presentations you create tonight. You can save your presentation on your Z directory, but also make sure a copy goes to \\KES\\ITARCH so that all of the class can view them. To get to \\KES\\ITARCH, click on File Manager in your Main window. From the menu click on Disk then Connect Network Drive. Scroll down to KES and double click Scroll down to itarch and double click again. Open your Z directory also, if it is not already open, click on your presentation file and drag the icon to the right-hand box of \\KES\itarch and let go. File Manager will ask if you want to copy that file, say yes.
To view your assignments on Netscape, go to File --> Open File in Browser, for List Files of Type choose All Files. Make sure the Drive is set to \\KES\itarch. Then click on the ppt file you want to view and click on OK. This will start the presentation. To go to the next slide use the PageDown button or use your mouse to click on the screen.
For more in-depth discussion of PowerPoint tools check out the Microsoft Office books in Ozark 208 or some websites. There are several, an example of which is listed here.

Homework
Your homework assignment is to discuss effective presentation. Create your own "rules" of presentation based on the readings and some of the sites listed above or others you have found. Then create a presentation in PowerPoint for the class discussing and incorporating your "rules". Save your assignment as hwitarch#.ppt, e.g. hwitarch1.ppt. Put a copy in both your home directory, Z, and in \\KES\itarch.
