Abstract:
This data set is a digital general soil association map
developed
by the National Cooperative Soil Survey. It consists of a
broad
based inventory of soils and nonsoil ares that occur in a
repeatable
pattern in the landscape and that can be cartographically
shown at
the scale mapped. This
data set consistes of georeferenced digital data and
computerized attribute data. The map data are collected in
1 x 2 degree topographic quadrangle units and merged
together
to be distributed as Statewide coverages. The soil map
units were
originally linked to attributes in the Map Unit
Interpretations Record
relational database which gives the proportionate extent of
the
component soils and their properties
Purpose:
These data were used for the Arkansas Source Water
Protection
Project (1998-2000).
STATSGO depicts information about soil features on or near
the
surface of the earth. These data are collected as part of
the
National Cooperative Soil Survey.
Supplemental_Information:
The attributes of these data have been re-classified, in
some instances,
and modified to fit the needs of the Arkansas SWAP
project and other than the MUID field the attributes do not
reflect
those attributes found in the original, native, STATSGO format.
