Goals and Objectives The Center for Advanced Spatial Technologies conducted the GIS integration and provided limited methodological guidance for the SWAP team. However, all Source Water Assessment methodology development for the project was jointly developed by the Arkansas Department of Health, the United States Geological Survey, and the University of Arkansas GeoSciences Department and reviewed by the Environmental Protection Agency (Region 6). The GIS related tasks that CAST was responsible for were generally defined as such: · Collect the GIS data ADH identified as required for a Source Water Assessment of Arkansas' Public Water Systems. · Organize and manipulate that data to suit the needs of the SWAP project team. · Produce assessment area summary statistics for each Public Water System and provide the resulting data in a format suitable for the models developed by the project team. · Produce maps of each of the Public Water System Assessment Areas that contain all of the point locations of Potential Sources of Contamination (PSOC). Note: these maps were actually produced twice, once in black and white (8.5" x 11") for field checking and then again for the final maps (color; .pdf format). These maps were accompanied by a "PSOC report" that listed each PSOC found within the assessment areas of each public water system.
