In August 1996, an electrical resistivity survey was conducted at Bent's Old Fort National Historic Site, in Otero County, Colorado. The survey took place in a 40 x 40 meter area surrounding the demarcated cemetery area. The area in the southeast corner of the cemetery demarcated by the row of river cobbles is relatively homogeneous at both the 0.5 meter depth and the one meter depth. The resistance data from the area surrounding the marked grave is more variable. This suggests that the southeast corner of the cemetery area has not been disturbed or at least not as disturbed as the area around the marked grave. Therefore, there is a relatively high probability that there has been little ground disturbance in the southeast corner from activity associated with the fort occupation and associated cemetery.
