Geophysical investigations were conducted at the Magic Mountain Site (5JF223) at the request of Christopher Zier. The purpose of the project was to assist archeologists from Centennial Archaeology in their efforts to relocate previous excavation units and to conduct excavations along a small drainage of Apex Creek. A 10-meter by 10-meter area was established between the drainage and adjacent barbed wire fence. A magnetic gradient survey and a resistance survey were conducted over the grid area. Magnetic anomalies included the barbed fence between North 8.5/East 0 and North7/East 10, and a strong dipole anomaly at North2/East 1. The resistance survey revealed a sharp drop in values between the west and east halves of the grid. This may represent a change in the sediments or an instrument malfunction. A strong resistance anomaly centered at North 1.4/East 5 may represent one of the previous excavation units at the site.
