A 1000 m square geophysical survey was done for the Pointe Aux Barques Lighthouse Society in Port Hope Michigan on May 27th, 2003. The survey was conducted on The Point Aux Barques Lighthouse Site (20HU203) using the TR/CIA Resistance Meter with the twin probe configuration and Bartington MS2 with MS2D field coil. The resistance survey was done at a 1m x 1m sample interval with a prospection depth of 50cm while the magnetic susceptibility survey was done with a 50cm x 50cm sample interval. The combined resistance and magnetic susceptibility geophysical survey recorded the location of the 'lost' 1847 lighthouse and keepers dwelling. The Keepers house burned down and the lighthouse was later torn down and rebuilt to the north of this area. The resistance survey shows two significant anomalies, one being the round doughnut foundation of the lighthouse tower, and the other is rectilinear (keepers dwelling) located near the bottom, right of center on the resistance map. The keepers dwelling was burnt down. The linear (high and low resistance) on the left are walkways, and the linear on the right is a sewer line.
