Learning more about the Site – Creating a QTVR
QTVR's (QuickTime Virtual Reality) are a fun and effective way to present information about a site. This can include textual descriptions, small movie files, 360o views of the site, and other types of media.

360o panoramic views or rotations can be created in the VRWorx software using images from the either the real or virtual site. In SoftImage a series of 12-24 images are rendered from several locations in the virtual site environment. These

into a small QuickTime movie file that can be rotated and manipulated by the user. A series of these panoramic movies can then be linked together using “hot spots.” The result is a completely interactive, user-driven system that allows the user to navigate the virtual site on his/her own. This can also be done using images from the actual rockart site as well.

The main focus of the QTVR's created in this project is the user-driven navigation of the virtual rock art site. For some of the sites, interactive navigation using imagery from the actual rock art site is also available. Additional information about the sites including a site description, a description of the rock art, additional images and sketches, and other figures are included in the final presentations. To view a sample QTVR, visit the results section for the Narrows.
