The Narrows visualization consists of a predetermined flight path through the Narrows virtual environment which was reconstructed in SoftImage XSI. The navigation path begins outside the bluff shelter and then proceeds towards it moving up the hill and passing by the 3D trees. The path enters the shelter on the east side proceeding towards the panel of petroglyphs. The animation is then significantly slowed in order to view each of the individual glyphs. The time spent viewing the panel is about 1/3 rd of the entire animation sequence. The path then proceeds out of the shelter on the western side and back out into the forest scene. It then pans around to view the entire environment and ends with a final view of the Narrows rock shelter. The second animation was created in 2350 frames and lasts approximately 3 minutes. Three different files sizes of the Narrows visualization are available for here download. Choose the file size that is compatible with your bandwidth, right click on the file and select "Save Target As..." This option is much quicker than trying to directly open the file from the site. Once the file has saved to your computer, open with a media player of your choice (ex. Windows Media Player). QTVR - An Interactive Exploration of the Narrows The Narrows QTVR provides a more interactive means for exploring the Narrow virtual site. If you have never navigated a QTVR before, please take the time to read the brief set of instructions that are provided. The Narrows QTVR contains panoramic views from the Narrows virtual site, a site description, and a panel description with sketch. From the introductory “splash” screen, you will have four options: “Enter the Site” – Allows the user to explore the virtual site by viewing the different panoramic views. “Site Description” – Provides a short description of the Narrows “Main Panel with Description” – Provides a panel description and an interactive image that the user can click on to view both a picture of the petroglyph panel and a sketch of the panel drawn by archaeologists. “Did you see them all?” – Provides a series of interactive images that highlight the petroglyphs against their rock background. First download and read instructions on how to maneuver around in a QTVR (word doc)! Play the Narrows QTVR - Have fun! Digital Video Coming Soon... |
